Reclaiming a foothold in the South of England, specialist running retailer Up & Running is stepping out of its Thames Street home in Kingston and reopening just a short distance away on Ditton Road, in Surbiton.
The new store, which has taken upcycling to a new level with a reclaimed gymnasium flooring, as well as salvaged fixtures and fittings from a broad range of places, is keen to replicate this policy across all of its new stores.
“We live in such a disposable world these days” said Jonathan Midwood, General Manager of Up & Running .“It’s important for our futures and the upcoming generations’ futures that we make the most of materials that are already in existence”.
Dan Cheeseman, manager at the new Surbiton store, is looking forward to welcoming runners of all abilities to the free Social Run Group, which will be starting in March.
Dan said: “I want to make Up and Running Surbiton the destination store for runners in the area. We want to help them achieve their own personal goals, whether it be to complete their first 5k or running their first Marathon. We want to be for them every step of the way. For many of our regular customers to the Kingston store this is an exciting move as it is going to allow us to stock more lines and hold regular in store activities and workshops. Oh! It looks cool as well.”
Up & Running caters for all runners, with in store gait analysis and expert shoe fitting. The established team is already working with local running clubs, local races and the store intends to be a community hub for all of Surbiton’s runners.
