Up & Running launches shoe recycling scheme

Customers who donate shoes to be recycled will receive a £10 discount on shoes bought at any one of the retailer’s 28 UK stores, free gait analysis and a pair of Groundhog socks worth £8.

Every pair collected will be distributed for resale and reuse at various local marketplaces around the developing world.

The scheme runs from June 12 to July 12 in partnership with the European Recycling Company.

Jonathan Midwood, general manager of Up & Running, says: “The partnership between ERC and Up & Running is a true testament that together we can not only educate and empower people to responsibly dispose of what they consume, but we can also, in a small way, make a big difference to the planet we all share.

“To do this while also keeping people active is a great opportunity and we are proud to work in partnership with a company like ERC.”
