Up & Running, the UK’s largest independent running specialist, is delighted to announce some important business updates. Firstly, after nearly 30 years managing the business, company founders Dennis & Gillian Macfarlane, will be stepping back into semi-retirement. Of late, they have overseen a busy 16 months of development and restructure at Up & Running, but now feel the time is right for them to take more of a back seat.
As a result, they have appointed George Cunningham and Maggie Holmes as co-Managing Directors of Up & Running. Maggie Holmes has managed the finance and accounts for over 20 years, and George Cunningham oversees retail management and company operations. Between the two of them, they have the experience and ability to continue to grow Up & Running.
Their intention is for them is to focus on the core business values, customer service, product knowledge and customer relationship. They plan on investing in the in-store experience, and have many new exciting projects in the pipeline, including a roll out of new shops and potential new franchisees. George Cunningham has stated that ‘Up & Running is in an enviable position on the high street, but it will only remain relevant by constantly improving what it does well. Runners across the country shop with Up & Running for the high standards of service, advice and support. We have a relationship with our customers built on trust and integrity. It is by maintaining and improving on these core values that will further strengthen our position as the best, and grow our reputation amongst the running community’
In the next month Up & Running will be opening a flagship shop on Chiswick High Road, and have more ambitious projects they look forward to announce soon.
