Wahoo, Roka and Clif Bar join the Specialized Zwift Academy Tri Team

Wahoo Fitness have partnered with the Specialized Zwift Academy Triathlon Team.

Wahoo joins the Specialized Zwift Academy Tri Team as the official training hardware supplier. Team members will each receive a Wahoo Kickr smart trainer to support their indoor cycling on Zwift. Wahoo Elemnt Bolt bike computers together with Tickr heart rate monitors and RPM speed and cadence sensors will support the team’s outside bike training and racing.

In addition to on the bike support, Wahoo will also be providing running assistance through Woodway treadmills equipped with the Wahoo GEM module enabling the athletes to also complete their run training indoors using Zwift.

The Wahoo GEM module delivers Bluetooth connectivity to CSAFE-enabled cardio equipment, meaning the treadmill will be able to communicate directly with Zwift, delivering accurate speed, distance and cadence information for precise, structured training.

Colin Eustace, VP Marketing at Wahoo, said: “This is, without doubt, the best-supported amateur team in the sport of triathlon and I’m delighted that Wahoo can be a part of the journey.

“These athletes will be doing large parts of their training indoors, as many triathletes do, so the partnership is very natural. We are excited to see these athletes realise their full potential and are proud that we can deliver the products that will be an integral part of their training regime.”

Clif Bar will be providing each athlete with nutrition to fuel their training and racing. The team will be able to choose from an extensive range of bars, gels, bloks and recovery products to tailor a nutrition strategy to their individual needs and preferences.

ROKA will supply the team with Maverick X wetsuits, Viper swimskins for Kona and a selection of performance eyewear.

Rachael Norfleet, Specialized Zwift Academy Team member, said: “I always knew this would be big, but it’s only just sinking in how lucky we are to be getting so much support through this team.

“Knowing you have the very best equipment, mentoring and support behind you removes much of the stress and worry, meaning we are free to concentrate fully on our training and racing. It’s already super exciting, but this is only just the beginning – bring on Kona!”

The Specialized Zwift Academy Tri Team will come together from around the world to qualify and race at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii, on October 13. The team will be leading training rides and runs on Zwift throughout the season and documenting their journeys via www.academy.zwift.com
