On Sunday, February 4th, 2024, Werder Bremen celebrated 125 years of football excellence by releasing an anniversary jersey together with hummel, paying tribute to the club’s storied past.
Revealed by some of Werder Bremen’s most iconic legends, the hummel jersey quickly became a must-have for fans, resulting in an overwhelming demand that led to its complete sell-out online within just a day. This notable launch had over 50,000 fans eagerly waiting in digital lines to secure this historic jersey, leading to the full anniversary lifestyle collection, ranging from tracksuits to bomber jackets, selling out as well.
The enthusiasm wasn’t confined to online platforms; fans also gathered physically outside the WESERSTADION’s fan shop in Bremen early this morning, eager to get their hands on these anniversary designs.
Allan Vad Nielsen, CEO of hummel, shared his excitement over the success, said: “The overwhelming response to the Werder Bremen 125th Anniversary Jersey is a clear indicator of the strong legacy and love for the club. To see 50,000 fans in queue online and the jersey sold out in less than 24 hours is beyond our expectations. It’s a proud moment for hummel to be part of this historic milestone, and we are thrilled to see the passion of Werder Bremen fans manifest in such an incredible way.”
Fans of the Green-Whites who haven’t secured their jersey yet need not worry, as the club has confirmed that a new phase for reordering will be commencing shortly.
“We are impressed by the demand for the product. Although we learned our lesson from the last limited-edition jersey and produced a large number of the anniversary specials, they were all sold out within a few hours. We would like for every fan to get the chance to buy their anniversary shirt, which is why more stock will be available soon, thanks to our supplier hummel. Please note that there is no need to purchase the shirt through a secondary market,” added Christian Stoll, Head of Marketing & Brand at SV Werder Bremen.
The much-anticipated anniversary jersey will make its debut during the Bundesliga match against 1. FC Heidenheim at the WESERSTADION on Saturday, 10th February 2024, with the women’s team also wearing it in their match against TSG Hoffenheim on the same day.
