Zoggs’ Oceans of Fun Days to continue into 2014

Zoggs has confirmed it will be continuing its popular Oceans of Fun Day events into 2014.

Each session provides up to 300 free spaces for children aged 7 to 14 to experience a number of different aquatic activities, ranging from fast swimming and synchronised swimming to water polo and being a rookie lifeguard.

Children are also taught cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as a first aid technique.

The fast swimming, synchronised swimming and water polo sessions are taken by Olympic or Commonwealth athletes who have represented GB.

The athletes are introduced at the beginning of the event and the children get the opportunity to meet the athletes for autographs, photos and the showing of Olympic and Commonwealth medals.

They’ll also get the chance to race against them.

Each child taking part will receive a Zoggs Oceans of Fun swimming cap and be presented with a medal at the end of the session.

Zoggs is running the Oceans of Fun Day events in partnership with Total Swimming, the private sector swimming organisation founded by Olympic swimmers Steve Parry and Adrian Turner.

“Zoggs is a swim brand with a real passion for swimming and, by using role models in the form of Olympic and Commonwealth athletes, we hope to inspire, motivate and educate young people who will have the chance to come along and take part in these events for free,” says Steve Parry.

“They will not only learn a huge amount at these events, but get a once in a lifetime chance to swim against a top athlete and, we hope, begin to understand the benefits and enjoyment of adopting an active, healthy lifestyle.”
