Zone3, Europe’s leading triathlon and swimwear brand, has entered a long-term partnership with British triathlon legend, Tim Don.
Tim is a household name in worldwide triathlon, with a career that has spanned over two decades, racing across both the ITU scene and long-distance events at the highest level. Highlights include being a 3-time Olympian and 4-time ITU World Champion, as well as the accolade of holding the British IRONMAN Record (in a time of 7:40:23).
After setting personal bests and breaking the then IRONMAN World Record, Tim was the pre-race favourite for the IRONMAN World Championships in 2017, before a horrible collision with a car during race week led to fractured C2 vertebrae. Since then, Tim’s 8-month recovery has gone from strength-to-strength, recently winning Ironman 70.3 Costa Rica and running a 2:49 at Boston Marathon, after being confined to a medieval-looking “Halo” neck brace.
His recent success at IRONMAN 70.3 Costa Rica using Zone3’s high-performance swim skins to secure victory in Playa del Coco, topped off an incredible eight-month recovery from near career-ending injuries.
Sam Begg, Sponsorship and Partnership Manager at Zone3, said: “We are delighted to be working with one of the biggest names in triathlon and will help and support Tim in any way we can to aid his recovery and assist him in getting back to his very best. Not only is Tim a tremendous athlete, but his positivity, resilience and determination are something to be admired. Having ‘The Don’ as part of our athlete team for the future will undoubtedly help with the development of future products, and his meticulous observations and elite level feedback will no doubt enhance performance in our already award-winning ranges.”
On the partnership, Tim said: “I am very excited to be partnering with such a fresh, innovative brand. Having watched Zone3 grow from small roots in Loughborough, UK to become one of the leading wetsuit and swim skin brand in the global marketplace today has been cool. To be a part of the team with other amazing athletes and working as an integral part of their development team is great. They say you can’t win a triathlon in the swim, but you can certainly lose one – so having Zone3 on my back is awesome, bring on the 2018 season #iRaceZone3”
