Panel:
• David Wheldon, chief marketing officer of RBS
• Gerhard Fourie, general manager for global brand strategy and management for Nissan
Overview:
2015’s final Sport Industry Breakfast Club will see David Wheldon and Gerhard Fourie face questions from sports broadcaster James Pearce.
Both have extensive global experience of leading brands’ marketing strategies and sport sponsorships. Wheldon is widely regarded as one of the most influential marketing chiefs, having held senior global positions at Coca-Cola, Vodafone and Barclays before moving to his current role in July 2015 as chief marketing officer for RBS. Fourie joined Nissan in 1994 rising the ranks to be promoted to his current role in 2011 as general manager of global brand strategy and management, in 2013 he moved to London and in the last 18 months he has helped to create global partnerships, including teaming up with the UEFA Champions League and an eight year deal with the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The experienced marketeers will give their views on the best marketing activity of the year; explore what the sport industry is and isn’t doing well; new trends to capitalise on and pitfalls to avoid. They will also share their experiences of how rights holders and agencies can form the most successful relationships with brands before looking ahead to a busy 2016 with the Olympics, Euros and more.
The Sport Industry Breakfast Club is the industry’s number one networking event series with four content-led networking breakfasts over the course of the year. Each event sees prominent individuals from global sport interviewed on relevant and topical subjects in front of leading figures from across the entire spectrum of the UK and European sport industry.
