Intersport sponsors the Armagh International Road Race
Intersport sponsored the 25th Armagh International Road Race in Northern Ireland this year, in partnership with Intersport member Armagh Sports & Trophies and alongside title sponsor Brooks Running.
The event attracts competitors from around the world in a bid to improve their time against a field of elite runners. The 2015 men’s 5k race even made its way into triathlon star Jonny Brownlee’s calendar as part of his preparations for the Triathlon World Series in Abu Dhabi this month. Having led the 106 strong field most of the way, Brownlee had to settle for third place as Joe Stilin from the US and Liverpool’s Daniel Cliffe took first and second place respectively, with each breaking the 14 minute barrier and over half of the field finishing in under 15 minutes.

The 3k races saw England’s Racheal Bamford win the women’s event in 9:16.14 with 13 of the race’s 112 runners completing it in sub three minutes and Paddy Robb winning the men’s field in 8:43.56.
There were also over 1,000 children between the ages of 7 and 16 taking part across a host of distances from 400m to 2,400m, meaning the event pulls in a large number of spectators and supporters as well, helping to make it a great event to be part of.
“I’d heard very good things about this [race]. It’s not often you get a great atmosphere like this and a fast course and it’s very conducive to fast running. I really, really enjoyed it.”
