Jaguar backs BT Sport Industry Awards 2013

The Jaguar Academy of Sport will be the official sponsor of the Outstanding Contribution to British Sport Award at the BT Sport Industry Awards 2013.

The award recognises the individual, team or organisation whose actions have made the most impact on British sport – not only in their own sport, but across the full spectrum of the industry.

Past winners include Sir Alex Ferguson, David Beckham, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, and Team GB and Paralympics GB following their record medal haul at Beijing 2008.

The Jaguar Academy of Sport identifies and provides funding for ‘rising stars’ with the aim of producing great sportsmen and women.

It provides bursary awards to help support these rising stars with equipment, competition entry and training expenses.

More importantly, each rising star also becomes a member of the Jaguar Academy of Sport’s mentoring and education programme, receiving mentoring from patrons and ambassadors including Sir Steve Redgrave, Dame Kelly Holmes and Sir Ian Botham.

The winner of the Outstanding Contribution to British Sport Award will be selected by the BT Sport Industry Award’s judging panel, which includes some of the greatest minds from the industry, and will be recognised at the BT Sport Industry Awards 2013 on May 2 in London.

Jaguar will have a strong presence on the night, with a fleet of the brand’s luxury cars delivering star names to the flagship ceremony, which celebrates the very best commercial work in British sport.

David Steele, global brand operations director at Jaguar, says: “Jaguar are delighted to be sponsoring the Outstanding Contribution to British Sport Award.

“The BT Sport Industry Awards is a perfect platform to reinforce our commitment to sport. We will be rewarding the 50 2013 rising stars with their bursary and the first of their mentoring and education days in association with Dame Kelly Holmes the same day.”

Nick Keller, chairman of the Sport Industry Group, adds: “Jaguar’s contribution to British sporting talent of the future through the academy makes it the ideal partner for this prestigious award.

“The previous winners of this award have all gone on to achieve even more success in their careers and I am sure the Jaguar Academy of Sport’s current crop of rising stars will also go on to achieve great things.”

The BT Sport Industry Awards 2013 will once again bring together more than 1,750 of the sport industry’s key representatives, recognising the outstanding commercial achievements in sport this year across marketing, PR, sponsorship, talent management, advertising, community investment and branding.

The official partners of the BT Sport Industry Awards 2013 are Barclays, Deloitte and Eurosport.
