The FSPA Holds Free HR Seminar for Members
On the 30th June the Federation of Sport and Play Association (FSPA) held a free half day seminar on ‘The Employment Journey’ for its members. The seminar was hosted by The HR Department in Kenilworth, Warwickshire and covered all companies needed to know about the employment journey from recruitment to dismissal and everything in between. Including:
• Recruitment best practice and pitfalls
• Inductions and probationary reviews
• Holidays
• Sickness absence and dealing with problems
• Disabilities and what to consider
• Family friendly policies
• Handling disciplinary hearings and grievances
• Reasons for leaving
• What can go wrong
• Open discussions about current issues and concerns
The seminar was beneficial for small companies who do not have all the correct procedures in place and for the larger members as a good way of making sure that they were doing everything right. The opportunity to share experiences with other companies was also helpful. Paul Jepson, Managing Director, Yonex said “The seminar was very informative and provided useful advice on managing the Employment Journey from job recruitment to job ending. The presentation content was easy to understand and professionally delivered. It is vital that all organisations keep up to date with the ever changing world of employment legislation – to do otherwise could prove to be a costly mistake” This was backed up by Nick Dear, HR Manager, Ping Europe who commented “The training was meaningful, well conducted and enjoyable”
The informative session covered the basics such as, when to seek help and what to look out for. Jane Montgomery, Managing Director of the FSPA said “The training came across in a relaxed atmosphere and there were many interesting case studies given by the HR Department”.
In the coming months the FSPA will be holding further free seminars for its members on the following topics, Social Media, Internet Platforms and Exporting.
The FSPA promotes the benefits of physical activity across its 14 trade associations and approximately 500 member companies within the UK sports and play sectors. FSPA Members, in addition to receiving sector-specific benefits and a range of free seminars through their trade association, also gain access to a range of exclusive cost-saving membership benefits.
