The RFU are backing The Rugby Show

English rugby bosses have given their support to the The Rugby Show spectacle, which will take place in the UK next summer.

The two-day gathering is for rugby fans, grassroots clubs and players of all ages, with a star-studded line-up of speakers already on board.

These include rugby legend Lawrence Dallaglio, England’s World Cup duo George Kruis and Joe Marler, as well as Maggie Alphonsi, the face of women’s rugby.

Those attending can also be in with a chance of receiving first-hand coaching from rugby professionals right at the very top of the sport.

The unique spectacle takes place at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry over two days on July 11-12 and tickets are on sale now.

The Ricoh Arena has previously hosted Heineken Cup semi-finals and the final, the EDF Energy Cup semi-finals and is home to English Premiership side Wasps.

Doors open at 9.30am and events conclude at 5pm. Full details of what’s on and when can be seen at https://therugbyshow.com/

The exciting concept is focused on grassroots rugby – for the players who want to improve, the clubs that want to grow and the wider fan community.

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) are fully behind the project, saying they are “strong supporters of grassroots rugby and the events that promote it.”

The RFU point out grassroots clubs are a force for good in the local community, with rugby being a huge thing for many.

They say: “Grassroots rugby has contributed to the strong culture and record number of people playing rugby worldwide as the sport continues to grow and prosper across the globe.

“England head coach, Eddie Jones has talked about the importance of the community game and the role grassroots clubs and their volunteers play in the development of players at every level.

“Jones stated, ‘The base of our game has always been the grassroots clubs,’ and how ‘your first coach and your first club is such an important experience for a rugby player – it dictates how you approach the game’.

“For grassroots clubs to survive and thrive, it’s not just one person who takes responsibility; it’s an entire club and community effort. This determination is where the true spirit of grassroots rugby is found.

“We are proud to support The Rugby Show, which has been specifically designed and created to support, engage and encourage grassroots rugby, and bring the whole rugby community together for a celebration of our sport.”

Ed Tranter, The Rugby Show founder and organiser, said: “We want a sea of shirts of all colours and all teams in the aisles and to celebrate the game we all love.
“The Rugby Show has been specifically designed and created to support, engage and encourage grassroots rugby right across the UK. Deliberately planned outside of the season, The Rugby Show is the perfect team day out.”

Tickets for adults cost £15, with youngsters priced at £10. You can buy a family ticket for four at £25 and tickets are on sale now.
