Industry leading insurance broker and risk management business W&P Longreach has signed as the official category sponsor of the BT Sport Industry Award for Sport Participation Event of the Year, which will recognise the best participation-led sport events from across the UK at the BT Sport Industry Awards 2013 on May 2.
W&P Longreach, which has uniquely positioned itself within the sport and entertainment industry, will back the category won last year by Manchester’s Great Day of Sport.
In 2013 the shortlist features the Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run, The National Lottery Olympic Park Run, Ping! 2012, Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile and Swimathon Weekend 2012.
“Participation events are one of the fastest growing and most exciting areas of our industry, for very understandable reasons,” says ‘ Nick Keller, chairman of the Sport Industry Group.
“As well as playing a vital role in ensuring people take part in regular sport, they are an unmatched opportunity for brands and organisations to reach large numbers of enthusiastic competitors.
“W&P Longreach’s role and success in sport is based on personal service and the unique engagement provided by these events is a perfect fit for their vital work.’
David Griffiths, head of sport at W&P Longreach, adds: “We are very pleased to be sponsoring this award.
“Sports participation events are growing enormously in popularity and it’s a sector in which we have gathered a wealth of knowledge of the associated risks through our clients.
“The quality of the entries is evident from the shortlist above.
“We very much look forward to another spectacular evening organised by the Sport Industry Group.”
W&P Longreach will receive an array of branding opportunities and other rights, both in advance of the awards ceremony and on the night.
The BT Sport Industry Awards 2013 will once again bring together more than 1,750 of the sport industry’s key representatives at the industry’s flagship gathering, recognising the outstanding commercial achievements in sport this year across marketing, PR, sponsorship, talent management, advertising, community investment and branding.
