Helly Hansen introduces LIFALOFT™ Air:
A lighter, warmer insulation with maximum breathability
Since it was founded in 1877, Helly Hansen has continued to look forward, creating new and innovative designs and technologies that professionals can depend on and trust. The Norwegian-based brand relies on professional insight and feedback to validate its designs and push them even further, ensuring the highest quality professional grade gear.
For the Winter 2021 season, Helly Hansen launches its newest innovation in insulation with the LIFALOFT Air Insulator Jacket (SRP £170) and the LIFALOFT Air Insulated Flannel Shirt Jacket (SRP £160).
Helly Hansen’s LIFALOFT™ technology revolutionised the world of insulation a few years ago, keeping consumers warmer with less weight and bulk compared to traditional polyester insulation. This season, the brand is taking this one step further with LIFALOFT™ Air, a lighter and warmer insulation with maximum breathability. Featuring more air pockets and an open structure, this new insulation allows more air to pass through during high-intensity activities, like backcountry ski touring, while keeping wearers warm when standing still at the summit. The inner quilting of the insulation also allows for more stretch in the face fabric, providing added comfort and increased freedom of movement.
This new, versatile insulation will be available in the LIFALOFT Air Insulator Jacket, which also features two large hand pockets for extra storage for skins as well as a full zip and under helmet hood. The jacket is warmer than fleece and more versatile than down, making it ideal as both a standalone piece and when worn as a layer.
The LIFALOFT Air Insulated Flannel Shirt Jacket also features 60g of this new insulation with a soft-touch flannel face fabric. It is versatile and comfortable while also maintaining a purposeful fit, and also features include front snap buttons and two hand pockets.
Philip Tavell, Category Managing Director for Ski at Helly Hansen, comments, “Our professionals push us to develop our designs and technologies, and motivate us to continue innovating and making improvements in everything we do. With the new LIFALOFT™ Air, we listened to our backcountry skiers as well as search-and-rescue professionals, who needed a light and warm insulation that could provide maximum breathability, and we’re excited to launch this new insulation for the Winter 2021 season.”
The LIFALOFT Air Insulator Jacket comes in both men’s and women’s specific styles, which will be available alongside the LIFALOFT Air Insulated Flannel Shirt Jacket, in-store and online from Autumn 2021.
