UKL exclusive Phase One was launched 4 years ago with a mission to provide matching and coordinated teamwear and sports gear for men, women and children. Following the success of its initial range, UKL launched Phase One Performance.
Phase One Performance delivers technical training kit manufactured using the latest sports fabrics, ensuring ease of care, comfort and, most importantly, the ability to dress all teams – from the under-11s through to the seniors and coaches – in the same great kit. The Phase One range is used by both professional and amateur teams across the UK.
Sure-fire winners so far have been the PH27/PH27B and PH29/PH29B shower-proof tracksuit top and pants and the PH68/PH68B training sweatshirt manufactured from the latest hydrophilic (moisture wicking) fabrics.
The collection doesn’t just stop at tracksuits and shorts, but includes wet and dry training tops and bottoms, polo shirts, sports socks and swimwear.
New for 2008, and available exclusively through UKL, American Sportswear brand ALO (Air – Land – Ocean) utilises an array of technical and performance fabrics. The newest is ‘Bamboo Jersey’ (W2006 – Women’s Racerback Bamboo Tank Top, W1004/3004 Woman’s short/long sleeve Bamboo Tee), which blends bamboo lyocell and cotton spandex to create a lightweight, breathable jersey fabric. This fabric features naturally inherent properties that wick moisture and is naturally anti-bacterial, hypoallergenic and breathable with no added chemical treatments.
‘Circle Knit Jacquard’ is one of the most common performance fabrications in the Alo men’s line (M3001 – Long sleeve half Zip Pullover, M4007 Light weight runners Jacket) and is used both face-up and face side down for contrast texture. Fabric back has thin recessed textured circles that create a faint pattern on the face of the fabric. Heavier in weight but very breathable, it features dry wicking capabilities that draw moisture away, keeping you cool and comfortable, and has an added anti-microbial treatment to prevent the increase of bacteria to help keep clothes odour free.
The latest technical sportswear to hit the UKL racks is the Coolactive range. Launching exclusively through UKL in March, the whole collection is based on the Coolmax fibre. This unique fibre has a greater surface area than traditional polyester and has channels that run the length of the fibre, drawing moisture away from the body and onto the surface of the garment where the wearer’s body heat causes it to evaporate.
The initial range comprises both 100 per cent Coolmax (eg: CM004/CM011 – Mens/Ladies Polo shirt) and 50 per cent Coolmax/50 per cent Cotton blends (CM002/CM009 – Mens/Ladies 50/50 Tee Shirt) across long and short sleeved T shirt styles (CM012 – Ladies 100 per cent Coolmax, Longsleeve shirt), training tops and running vests. The collection comes in core team colours white, red, black, royal and navy blue.
Another new brand for 2008 is Cutter and Buck, the premium US golfing/sportswear brand. Starting with the finest materials such as sumptuous cottons, ingenious microfibres and performance fabrics, they build distinguished marks of quality into every style. Performance is key to their products, as is their devotion to style, comfort and fit. The range available from UKL includes polo shirts in male and female styles in 100 per cent Pima Cotton and Pima Cotton blends featuring CB DrytecTM finishes (MCK01263 – DrytechTM Championship Polo), plus Microfibre jackets with CB WeathertecTM finishes (MCO0547 – Aberdeen Windbreaker) .
