adidas sales in Russia/CIS to be over €1 billion by 2013

adidas’ sales in Russia/CIS are expected to exceed €1 billion by 2013, according to CEO Herbert Hainer, making the region one of the top three markets for the brand.

“The adidas Group’s position in Russia/CIS is going from strength to strength,” says Hainer.

“Our group is the clear market leader, with adidas number one and Reebok number two in the market.”

Together with North America and China, Russia/CIS is one of adidas’ three key growth markets.

As outlined in the brand’s Route 2015 strategic business plan, they are expected to contribute 50 per cent of adidas’ future sales growth.

Martin Shankland, managing director of adidas Group Russia/CIS, adds: “Our success in Russia/CIS is grounded on the strong desirability of our brands, our innovative and comprehensive product offering, as well as our unmatched own retail footprint and expertise.

“With the strong performance culture of our employees and the backdrop of a healthy consumer market, I am very confident that our success story will continue and we will establish Russia/CIS as one of the top three markets for the adidas Group.”

adidas expects to have over 800 stores in Russia/CIS by the end of 2011.

By 2015 the brand is planning to add a further 400 outlets, taking the total store count to over 1,200.
