
McDavid and Uhlsport are both celebrating sales growth of over 30 per cent for 2010.
Represented in the UK by Paul Sherratt (pictured), who acts as country manager for both brands alongside a number of project led and consultancy roles within his Solutions for Sport company, McDavid and Uhlsport have benefited from a joint team of experienced sales agents and a focused approach.
“Considering the current financial climate, it is a testament to how hard the team worked in 2010 to grow both brands in such an impressive manner,” says Sherratt.
“We have a team who between them has many years within the industry, and the fundamental growth has come from listening to our customers and trying to react accordingly.”
Adds Sherratt: “Some of our competitors seem to have missed the basics of good product, good price and good service.”
McDavid’s growth has come from a much stronger base within the independent sports trade – particularly with STAG and Intersport members – as well as successful penetration into the sports multiples through DW Sports and JJB.
“Thankfully there is very little discounting, particularly on sports supports,” says Sherratt, “and thus the two channels can live quite happily alongside each other.”
Uhlsport not only saw its core goalkeeper range market share grow, but impressive growth figures also came from the teamwear side of the business.
Meanwhile Solutions for Sport introduced Response Ball, a goalkeeping training aid, and EFX performance wristbands into the trade.
In addition, the company has a number of other projects for 2011 that look set to ensure that Sherratt and his team will continue to enjoy success this year.
