The managing director of a Scottish sports retailer has praised the efforts of his staff during the worst weather conditions he has seen in 20 years.
Says Alistair Cameron, managing director of ACA Sports in Kirkcaldy: “We have definitely been on the receiving end of disruption due to the adverse weather, but our staff have been fantastic – their commitment to fulfil customer orders has been unbelievable.
“At one point we were having to go around in the company 4×4 to collect them all from their houses – it was the only way they could make it into the store.”
Cameron adds: “We have had issues with delivery, as all the major distribution hubs have suffered from a huge back log, but we fortunately ran our major Christmas promotion at the end of November and this has given us an opportunity to meet the Christmas deadlines.
“Sales online dwindled quicker as a result of the bad weather, with customers worried about delivery times, but because the cold weather has been so widespread they have generally been very understanding.
“It has certainly been a frustrating time for both our staff and the consumers.”
