Sonia O’Sullivan opens new Cambridge running shop

International multi-medallist Sonia O’Sullivan formally opened the new Advance Performance store in Cambridge yesterday, the Sydney 2000 Olympic 5,000m silver medallist and 1998 double World Cross Country champion officially declared the store open at 10am.

O’Sullivan cut a ribbon and revealed a brass plaque to mark the occasion of the first Advance Performance store to be opened outside of Peterborough. Previously Sally Gunn ell and Steve Cram have each travelled to Cambridgeshire to mark similar business successes for the company.

After the formalities, O’Sullivan went onto lead a group of customers on a training run. Said O’Sullivan: “I have really enjoyed meeting customers and the team from Advance Performance and wish them well with their new venture. It is great to see such a supportive environment encouraging everyone to run.”

The new store is 1,800 sq ft and complements Advance Performance’s Peterborough running store by being open from Wednesday through to Sunday. This means that there is now an Advance Performance store open in Cambridgeshire seven days a week.

“We are thrilled that Olympic athlete Sonia O’Sullivan has opened our new second store,” said Samantha Hale, managing director of Advance Performance. “We look forward to welcoming people of all running abilities to our store in Cambridge.”
