Will New Owners Help Spurs Achieve the Glory They Want?

Spurs could potentially be purchased by Iranian-American billionaire Jahm Najafi. If so, what could this mean for the North London side?

It was recently announced that a $3.75 billion (£3.1 bn) bid to purchase English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur (more commonly referred to as Spurs) is close to being arranged by an Iranian-American billionaire called Jahm Najafi.
The question being asked here is, if there is a takeover, will the new owners help Spurs achieve the glory they have been looking for? Find out more right here.

Will a new owner take over Spurs?
According to reports, Jahm Najafi, the Iranian-American billionaire (the current chair of a company called MSP Sports Capital) is in the process of preparing a $3.75 billion (£3.1 bn) bid to purchase North London-based English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. Details of the bid are to be finalised within the next few weeks.

Najafi is part of a consortium of potential investors that have come up with a realistic offer for the club, which is currently owned by ENIC Group. A formal approach by MSP Sports Capital could happen any time soon.
Also on the board at MSP Sports Capital are Jeff Moorad (CEO), Sharon Hwang (COO), Pete Taylor (Vice President), and Arne Rees (Chairman, Advisory board).
Stories have also been circulating that Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy has already held takeover talks with various other potential suitors. Therefore, a takeover could happen sooner rather than later.

What could a takeover mean for Spurs?
If you’re a Tottenham fan, it’s exciting times. A new owner willing to spend more money could mean that Spurs could start seriously challenging for trophies.

If you’re a Premier League football betting person, it might mean that you will start seeing more favourable odds for Tottenham to win more upcoming Premier League matches, European football matches, and cup matches.

However, betting odds will only improve if the team does, so they will have to spend lots of money on new signings and set new club transfer records.

In recent years, fans have protested against the owners due to not winning any major trophies. The lack of spending compared to some of their rivals has also angered those same protestors. The last time Spurs won a trophy was back in 2008 when they won the League Cup.

What are the odds looking like right now for Spurs to win the current 2022/23 Premier League campaign?
The easiest way to better understand just how likely Spurs will win the 2022/23 Premier League season would be to compare the odds from today’s most trusted online bookmakers.

For example, it’s not looking good for Spurs, who, as it stands, are currently only the seventh odds-on favourite Premier League team to win the league outright. If you were to place a wager on them right now, you would be looking at slim odds of around 500/1 in UK fractional odds.

This is the same as saying 501.00 in European Decimal odds or 50,000 in American/moneyline odds. Another way of looking at it is that Spurs only have a 0.2% implied probability rate of winning.

In comparison, the odds-on favourites to win the league, Manchester City, are currently priced at around 19/20 (1.95, or -105) with a 51.3% chance of winning, and second odds-on favourite Arsenal are currently priced at around 23/20 (2.15, or 115), with a 46.5% chance of winning.

With new owners who are willing to spend enough money in the right places, there’s a good chance that Spurs could dramatically change these odds. This will only happen if they can start getting the results they need to climb up the Premier League table and into a top-four spot to ensure Champions League football.
