8% growth for Lotto

Lotto Sport Italia has reported eight per cent growth and total sales of 300million euros for 2007. The company has also enjoyed significant growth across Europe, South America and Asia, with footwear sales up 10 per cent, clothing six per cent and accessories 21 per cent.

Says Allan Cope, sales and marketing manager for Lotto in the UK: “Despite worsening retail conditions in the UK, Lotto has achieved an excellent increase year on year and, following a change in distribution strategy at the end of 2007, forward orders for 2008 are showing significant gains, regardless of the poor economic climate. The recent announcement of a five-year contract as the technical sponsor of Queen’s Park Rangers Football Club will further enhance Lotto’s brand visibility both in the UK and internationally and strengthen Lotto’s grip on the teamwear markets.”

Says Andrea Tomat, president of Lotto Sport Italia (pictured): “These are excellent results, considering the European market’s weak conditions. The forecasts are positive for 2008 as well. However, the market conditions will not be particularly encouraging, especially in the second half-year, due to the impact of rising energy costs, which will have a negative effect on consumers’ disposable income.”
