This September, ASICS is launching the Million Mile Challenge – a movement inspiring initiative to help raise funds and awareness for the mental health charity, Mind.
With recent ASICS research showing that it takes just 15:09 minutes for exercise to uplift the mind, the challenge aims to inspire the nation to feel the positive effect every mile can have on the mind.
The challenge will call on the nation to log miles run or walked during September with the overall target of one million miles moved by the end of the month. As part of the challenge and partnership with the mental health charity, Mind, ASICS will contribute £25,000 for miles logged to support Mind’s life-changing work.
ASICS has worked in partnership with mental health charity, Mind since 2021 helping to fund support services, including physical activity-based projects, for people experiencing mental health problems. Through the partnership, ASICS aims to raise awareness about the benefits of physical activity on mental health as well as using the funds raised to support Mind’s research into mental health in sport.
Lucy Greenhalgh, Marketing Manager, ASICS UK said: “At ASICS, we’ve always believed in the power of movement to uplift the mind, and our research has shown this is the case even with small amounts of exercise. So, this September, we’re calling for the nation to get out, move and contribute to our goal of one million miles moved together – something that won’t just uplift minds but also raise funds for the outstanding work of Mind.”
Hayley Jarvis, Head of Physical Activity at Mind, said: “At Mind, we believe physical activity has a key role in supporting people to stay and live well. It’s fantastic to have ASICS’ support to raise awareness on the benefits of movement, and for their generous donation towards our work. We cannot wait to see participants take on this challenge and wish them all the best.”
