“We were greatly moved by the plight of Farepak’s customers and their families, especially at such an emotionally charged time as the run-up to Christmas,” says New Balance’s managing director Alistair Cameron.
“We felt compelled to help and decided to throw our weight behind the support for local people who have so tragically lost out through no fault of their own.”
Tony Cunningham, MP for Workington and in whose constituency New Balance has its manufacturing plant, said of the company’s charitable action: “I applaud New Balance’s generous response to these desperately sad circumstances. We have been campaigning hard on behalf of Farepak’s dispossessed customers and it is warming to see New Balance stepping into the breach.
“I hope other local firms will follow their shining example.”
