As Round One of the 2025/26 Carabao Cup gets underway this evening, the English Football League (EFL) has revealed a special update to the competition’s sleeve badges designed to honour the history of the Cup and recognise Newcastle United’s historic triumph last season.
As the EFL marks 65 years of the iconic Cup competition, both the current holders and all previous Cup winners will have the opportunity to wear commemorative Carabao Cup sleeve badges in celebration of their success in the competition. The new sleeve badges in Carabao’s familiar green will now include a nod to the number of times each Club has won the competition.
The 2025 winners, Newcastle United, who join the competition in Round Three, will also wear the very first Carabao Cup gold badge featuring the number one to mark their victory in the 2024/25 Carabao Cup, which was their first win in the competition and first domestic trophy in 70 years.
As the competition progresses, 11 Premier League clubs will join the 13 EFL Clubs receiving the commemorative sleeve badges this week for Round One.
This season, the Carabao Cup has included two preliminary matches ahead of Round One due to nine Premier League teams being involved in European competition in the 2025/26 season. Barnet and Newport County kicked off the proceedings with a scintillating game that saw Newport County edge out Barnet 4-2 on penalties. Meanwhile, Accrington Stanley scored three goals in the first half against Oldham Athletic that saw them win the game 3-1.
All 2025/26 Carabao Cup fixtures, from the earliest rounds to the Final at Wembley Stadium, will be shown live on Sky Sports. Bromley v Ipswich Town will be live on Sky Sports Football at 8pm tonight, 12 August, and Birmingham City v Sheffield United can be watched on both Sky Sports Football and ITV at 8pm tomorrow evening. All other Round One fixtures are available to watch on Sky Sports+.
