Intersport Sponsor the 2016 Armagh International Road Race
Armagh recently hosted the 26th Armagh International Road Race event which has continues to go from strength to strength, both in quality and quantity.
The 2015 men’s 5k event saw an impressive 56 sub-15 runners complete the race with Olympic triathlete Jonathan Brownlee competing at the front of the group, barely missing out on breaking the 14 minute barrier. This year’s event took a step further with 67 men running the 5k course in under 15 minutes with Charlie Hulson of Sale Harrier Manchester leading the pack in 14:02.83.
Intersport were proud to support the event again with their retail partner Armagh Sports, this time, as title sponsors of the Women’s Armagh Intersport International 3k race. With 28 women completing the 3k race sub-10, by comparison to last year’s figure of 13. This figure included GB&NI athlete, Eilish McColgan (Liz McColgan’s daughter for those of you wondering) for whom the Armagh 3k race was her first race back after injury, coming in sixth in a respectable 9min 22.58. Sara Tracey was first to cross the line in 9:18.20.
