Excitement is mounting in football fans across the planet, with the 2022 World Cup in Qatar now less than three months away.
The tournament in November and December will be a betting extravaganza, providing punters with a plethora of wagering opportunities.
The best FIFA World Cup 2022 betting sites already have wide range of markets available, and plenty more will be added when the tournament gets underway.
Read on as we take a closer look at Qatar 2022 and pick out a couple of bets that could make you a tidy profit later this year.
World Cup 2022 Group Stage
The 2022 World Cup in Qatar begins with the 32 qualifying teams in eight groups of four:
• Group A: Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, Netherlands.
• Group B: England, Iran, USA, Wales.
• Group C: Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland.
• Group D: France, Australia, Denmark, Tunisia.
• Group E: Spain, Costa Rica, Germany, Japan.
• Group F: Belgium, Canada, Morocco, Croatia.
• Group G: Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland, Cameroon.
• Group H: Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, South Korea.
The group stage offers an excellent chance to bank some winnings by predicting which teams will claim top spot in each section.
Netherlands look nailed on to win Group A, with Senegal and Ecuador expected to be battling to progress to the next stage alongside them.
Group B is not as straightforward and is probably best avoided from a betting perspective given the doubts surrounding England.
The Three Lions are favourites to finish top, but each of the other teams in the group are more than capable of competing with them in Qatar.
Argentina and France look good bets to win Groups C and D respectively, but it is impossible to separate Spain and Germany in Group E.
Belgium and Brazil are confidently expected to win Groups F and G, while any one of the four teams could finish top of Group H.
Group Winners Bet: Netherlands, Argentina, France, Belgium and Brazil.
World Cup 2022 Knockout Stage
The top two teams in each group progress to the round of 16 and most of the big guns are expected to make it through.
Brazil are currently the favourites to lift the trophy for the sixth time after producing some impressive performances during qualifying.
However, the Samba Kings have not won the World Cup since 2002 and their performances in the last four tournaments have not been up to scratch.
Reigning champions France are also prominent in the betting, but no team has retained the trophy since Brazil achieved the feat in 1962.
England are unlikely to end their long wait to lift the World Cup for the second time, despite travelling with a squad packed with top-class Premier League players.
Manager Gareth Southgate’s lack of tactical acumen has repeatedly been exposed and England will do well to progress beyond the round of 16.
On that basis, the winners are likely to be one of Spain, Argentina or Germany. All three teams have won the tournament previously and possess squads capable of progressing a long way this year.
Slight preference is for Argentina, who deservedly defeated Brazil to win the 2021 Copa America final in Rio de Janeiro.
The subsequently clinched the CONMEBOL–UEFA Cup of Champions by beating 2020 European Champions Italy 3-0 at Wembley Stadium.
Superstar forward Lionel Messi is yet to get his hands on the World Cup, but this could be the year he finally cements his legacy in the sport.
World Cup Winners Bet: Argentina to win.
