
McDavid has seen year-on-year growth of 148 per cent in the first quarter of 2010 as the sports support and protection market continues to consolidate.
Growth has come from all three product categories – sports supports, baselayers and protective baselayers – with a particularly sharp sales increase in the area of supports.
Commenting on the impressive figures, Paul Sherratt, McDavid UK country manager, explained: “Our message has been consistent for five years: the way to success in sports supports is to have better quality and mid-to-top-end products in store, as these items are distressed purchases and therefore can command a higher price.
“Retailers are finally getting this message and are buying into our ‘Protect Your Body’ concept to offer a one-stop shop for rehabilitation and protection from injury.”
The Q1 increase comes on the back of a steady 10 per cent sales growth for 2009 and overall strong growth for McDavid across Europe.
