GIRO SPORT DESIGN ANNOUNCES 3-YEAR PARTNERSHIP EXTENSION WITH TEAM VISMA | LEASE A BIKE

Giro Sport DESIGN will work with the men’s, women’s and development teams for a further 3-years, continuing to test, refine and develop products at the highest level of the sport.

Giro Sport Design today announces the brand’s 3-year partnership extension with World Tour team – Team Visma | Lease a Bike – reinforcing a successful collaboration that has helped drive performance and innovation at the highest level of professional cycling.

Giro Sport Design has been working with the team since 2024, becoming its official helmet supplier for the men’s, women’s and development squads.  The renewed agreement will see Giro continue to support one of the world’s leading WorldTour teams through 2029, supplying its industry-leading helmet range and working closely with riders and performance staff to develop its next-generation cycling equipment.

AN ENGINEERED ADVANTAGE

Among the products featured throughout the partnership are Giro’s most advanced performance helmets, including the Eclipse Pro Spherical, the Aries Spherical, as well as the Aerohead and the Aerohead II.  The Eclipse Pro Spherical has become a staple for road racing, combining class-leading aerodynamic efficiency with exceptional ventilation and rider comfort.  Meanwhile, the Aries Spherical is engineered for maximum ventilation and low weight for mountain stages and high-temperature racing conditions.  Lastly, the Aerohead and Aerohead II represent Giro’s cutting edge aerodynamic expertise, developed through extensive wind tunnel testing to deliver maximum aerodynamic gains for the team.

These helmets are a direct result of Giro’s partnership with the team, demonstrating how collaboration with some of the world’s best athletes continues to push the boundaries of performance.  The renowned Aerohead II underwent a notably intensive development process as, in addition to wind tunnel testing with Wout Van Aert and Jonas Vingegaard themselves, Giro’s research and development team also created full 3D body prints of each rider in their time trial position.  This process, along with extensive real-world road testing, allowed Giro to further optimise aerodynamic performance across the entire rider system, resulting in the helmet’s innovative shape.  The 3D body prints are still displayed at Giro HQ as artifacts of its groundbreaking development.

TESTED WHERE IT COUNTS MOST

Built on a shared commitment to excellence, the partnership combines Giro’s expertise in helmet design and engineering with Team Visma | Lease a Bike’s world-class performance programme, offering athletes marginal gains in competition while also giving valuable insights to future product development.  Since becoming the official helmet supplier in 2024, the team has seen some incredible results, from Wout Van Aert’s unforgettable Paris-Roubaix victory and Jonas Vinegaard’s Giro d’Italia GC title this year, to Pauline Ferrand-Prévot’s overall win at the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift in 2025.

The partnership provides Giro with invaluable feedback from some of the sport’s most accomplished athletes, such as Jonas Vingegaard and Pauline Ferrand- Prévot.  This helps refine products through real-world testing at the highest level, providing data from some of the world’s biggest races, informing Giro’s product development process and ensuring innovations are shaped by the demands of elite performance.

Emily Watts, Giro Global Director of Sports Marketing, said “At Giro, we’re driven by a relentless pursuit of performance, and Team Visma | Lease a Bike shares that same mindset.  Extending this partnership allows us to continue testing and developing our products in the most demanding racing environments in the world.  The insights gained from working alongside elite athletes help us push the boundaries of design and innovation, ultimately creating better products for everyone who rides.”

Ash Lewin, Giro Sr. Industrial Designer, said “We couldn’t be more energized to continue our partnership with Team Visma | Lease a Bike. This relationship pushes us to redefine performance innovation – going deeper into the complexity of the rider system to design helmets that are fully integrated. The next three years will allow us to explore bold design advances and there’s no better proving ground than the WorldTour to develop them”

Jasper Saeijs, Team Visma | Lease a Bike Chief Business Officer, said“Our partnership with Giro is built on a shared commitment to continuously improve. We’ve shown that the last few years, with the Aerohead II as a great example. At the highest level, success is often determined by details, so having a partner that is constantly thinking with us to develop the best product is incredibly valuable. We are glad we can continue together and are looking forward to all future developments.”
