Today, 24 ASICS athletes beat their personal best over 5 and 10km at the BE(AT) Your Personal Best event, live-streamed from Morton, France.
Hillary Kipkoech won the men’s 10km race with the world’s fastest time over this distance in 2021 (27:35). Mekdes Woldu won the women’s 10km race and set a new national record for Eritrea (31:47). Boniface Bikiwott won the men’s 5km race in 13:34, and Sarah Lahti won the women’s 5km, setting a new Swedish national record (15:22). All athletes were wearing the recently launched ASICS METASPEEDTM Sky shoes.
Following the race, Sarah Lahti said: “I’m really happy. It was feeling really easy over the first 3km, and I was looking at my watch and knew if I could keep that pace, I could get the record. You always want to be at your best, and today, I was.”
The race was recognised by the French Athletics Federation and World Athletics and all records are official.
Conditions for the runners taking part were perfect, with a temperature of 15 degrees, little wind, and a 2.5km flat asphalt course through natural woodland.
