Dunlop has re-signed American tennis star James Blake on a long-term agreement to provide him with the new Dunlop Aerogel Tennis racquets and equipment. Blake, whose nine professional singles titles came whilst using a Dunlop racquet, finished 2006 with a career-high world number four ranking.
Now ranked eighth in the world, Blake joins a strong team of Dunlop players who have chosen to play with the company’s innovative Aerogel racquets. He brings the Dunlop contingent within the ATP Top 12 rankings up to four players, which is more than any other racquet brand. The 27-year-old is the highest ranked American player to sign with Dunlop since John McEnroe in 1981.
“I began my professional career at Dunlop, have played the best tennis of my career using a Dunlop frame and I am looking forward to calling Dunlop home again,” says Blake.
“The new Aerogel racquet technology provides several frame specifications that will suit my game well and give me the confidence to know that I can take my career to new heights. I’ve always believed in Dunlop racquets, so it’s great to be back with the company again. For me Dunlop’s racquet technology is simply the best there is.”
Says Robin Gibson, Dunlop’s Head of Marketing: “James has enormous talent, presence and respect in professional tennis. He epitomises what Dunlop tennis is all about. We’re excited to have him back and I know he’ll have continued success playing with the Aerogel frame he chooses.”
