Joe Calzaghe will be wearing Kappa kit in his fight with Roy Jones Jnr at Madison Square Garden on November 8 as part of a new sponsorship deal between the super-middleweight champion and the Italian brand.
Says Jason Fairclough, marketing director of Kappa UK: “Joe Calzaghe represents everything that the brand means to us – skill, quality and style with an Italian history. Above all he is a world-class athlete with a down-to-earth attitude and for that reason there is no better fit for Kappa.”
The deal also means that Calzaghe will promote Kappa’s Robe Di Kappa lifestyle range and feature in some of the company’s promotional campaigns in 2009. “I am delighted to wear Kappa in and out of the ring,” says Calzaghe. “They are a brand that are synonymous with style, passion and performance, attributes I have always tried to live up to in my career.”
