Li-Ning has become the first Chinese brand to commit to Greenpeace’s Detox campaign to tackle what the environmental organisation describes as the fashion industry’s toxic pollution problem.
The company has agreed to draft a joint roadmap with fashion retailer C&A, adidas, Nike, Puma and H&M to work towards clean and sustainable production processes.
In addition, Li-Ning and C&A have committed to eliminate all hazardous chemicals from their supply chains and products by 2020.
This year Greenpeace’s Detox campaign exposed the direct link between global clothing brands, their suppliers and toxic water pollution around the world.
