Salomon has unveiled the S/LAB Ultra Glide, a ground-breaking trail running shoe that blends comfort and performance, from 10km runs to 100-miles ultra-trails. It combines a midsole made with our lightest and bounciest foams with a new outsole geometry to create a stable and dynamic cushioning, whether you are running for one or ten hours.
A UNIQUE COMBINATION OF FOAMS AND OUTSOLE GEOMETRY
The S/LAB Ultra Glide offers superior comfort and confidence thanks to a dual foam technology in the midsole. The first layer uses the springy energyFOAM+, as used in the S/LAB Phantasm 2 carbon-plated road running shoe, to create a bouncy feeling and provide energy return to reduce fatigue. The second layer of the midsole uses energyFOAM which focuses on underfoot cushioning and stability and extends to the sides of the shoe to create a cradle-like, stable foothold. With every step, this shoe promises to keep you comfortable and energized, even on steep or challenging downhills.
The relieveSPHERE outsole brings a new spherical geometry inspired by 6 years of biomechanical research at Salomon. The spheres are placed under the most sensible areas of the foot to help reduce the pressure from repeated impacts, which helps relieving the foot from pain and fatigue, ensuring a smooth ride over long distances. The outsole uses All-Terrain contaGRIP with 4mm chevron-shaped lugs.
The stretchy mesh material on the upper furthers this comfortable feeling. On the sides of the shoe, the combination of the mesh with the quickLACE technology creates a snug, comfortable foothold, while the mesh on the front of the foot is more stretchable to adapt to your stride and allow for more room after hours of running. A rubber toecap adds protection from rocks and roots.
