Stacked men’s line-up revealed for $1m PTO US Open

The Professional Triathletes Organisation has announced a stacked field for the $1 million PTO US Open men’s race in Dallas, 18 September, led by PTO World #3 Magnus Ditlev (DEN), #4 Lionel Sanders (CAN), #5 Alistair Brownlee (GBR), #6 Daniel Baekkegard (DEN) and #7 Florian Angert (GER).

In total, the field for the final PTO Tour men’s race of the season features 22 of the top 30 in the PTO World Rankings and covers 12 different countries, including seven from the USA led by PTO World #11 Sam Long.

“I enjoyed finally letting my racing do the talking at the Collins Cup with Lionel Sanders, but I’ll be looking to go one better on home soil at the PTO US Open later this month,” said the twenty-six-year-old from Boulder, Colorado.

“I always enjoy racing in the US and have been fortunate enough to notch up a couple of wins at Chattanooga, so I’m hoping I can continue that trend in Dallas.”

The race will take place on a specially designed course in Las Colinas, that will create a stadium-feel event where fans will see the athletes as many as 12 times during the 100km race. The full PTO US Open men’s line-up can be found here.

Commenting on the field announcement, PTO CEO Sam Renouf said: “This race is bursting with talent, with all the professionals looking to hunt down important PTO Ranking points before the end of season and get themselves as high up the rankings as they can. Picking a winner feels almost impossible, so all the indications are that it will be a highly competitive race.”

What is unique about triathlon, and the PTO Tour especially, is that amateurs get the chance to watch the world’s best triathletes as well as sign up to compete alongside them – over a 25km or 100km triathlon.
