Tom Bunner, managing director of Eveque Leisure Equipment, has been appointed chairman of the Sports and Fitness Equipment Association.
Eveque has been leading the way in educational sports equipment and services since 1976 and joined SAFEA in 1991. The company’s core product is the hugely successful Sportshall Athletics programme, which has recently been approved as part of the National Schools Competition Framework. Eveque is soon to launch the new Sportshall Awards in partnership with UK Athletics, which will seek to encourage both skill development and improve fitness levels of school children in the UK.
Bunner replaces Chris Harrod from Harrod UK as chair of SAFEA, as Chris has completed his two-year term in office. Bunner will also sit on the FSPA board of directors. The new SAFEA vice chair will be Jack Osborne from Primo Play.
Speaking of his two appointments, Bunner commented: “It is both an honour and a privilege to be able to represent our industry at this level. This country faces a serious challenge in the face of an increasing obesity problem and the sports industry has a huge part to play if we are going to solve this issue. Both SAFEA and the FSPA are committed to making Britons both healthier and fitter and I am looking forward to being able to make my contribution.”
