The two organisations have devised a year-long promotional campaign designed to raise £200,000 to go towards the maintenance of the 14,000 miles of signed and promoted cycle routes across the UK.
Wiggle and UK charity Sustrans says it will reach its financial target through the sale of Sustrans’ branded products by Wiggle and fundraising by staff and customers.
In addition, limited edition National Cycle Network posters will be included in some Wiggle orders, a guide to iconic cycle routes is to be produced and Sustrans publications will be heavily promoted.
Wiggle will also be organising a commuter challenge and supporting the Sustrans Sponsor a Mile appeal.
On top of this, special initiatives will be unveiled aimed at encouraging girls’ and women’s cycling.
Julian Hall, director of fundraising at Sustrans, says: “We have a packed year of activities to celebrate 20 years of the National Cycle Network planned with Wiggle and together we believe we can help more people get on their bikes, as well as raise much needed funds for the network.”
