Sport Industry Awards 2009 open for entries

The prestigious Sport Industry Awards 2009 are now open for entries, recognising and rewarding the best that the sport business sector has to offer.

With 13 award categories and four judges’ prizes up for grabs, the competition will once again be fierce, raising the bar further still on the industry’s accepted standard of best practice.

The deadline for entries is Friday, December 12. A shortlist of nominees for each award category will be unveiled in late January, with winners announced at the star-studded awards ceremony on April 30, 2009 in front of 1,400 industry representatives. Among the sporting stars who have attended the sell-out awards ceremony in previous years include Sir Bobby Charlton, David Beckham, Kevin Pietersen, Thierry Henry, Arsene Wenger, Lord Sebastian Coe, Bernie Ecclestone, Frank Lampard, Martin Johnson and Michael Vaughan.

Last year’s Sport Industry Awards attracted a record levels of entries and the 2009 nominations are expected to surpass this number. Winners at the 2008 awards included E.ON, The FA, Hawk-Eye, Nike and Setanta Sports, while Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson picked up the Virgin Atlantic Outstanding Contribution to British Sport and Sir Bobby Charlton was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
