Macesport to handle PR for National Football Centre

Sports communications agency Macesport has been appointed to handle public relations activity for the new multi-million pound National Football Centre.

The Nottingham agency has been retained by The Football Association to handle all regional media relations activity connected with the proposed St George’s Centre in Burton.

Macesport and the FA’s communications department coordinated a highly successful media launch earlier this week attended by over 100 media and footballing figures, including NFC chairman David Sheepshanks, England Under-21 head coach Stuart Pearce, and director of football development, Sir Trevor Brooking.

St George’s Park will provide a venue for The FA to deliver its coach education agenda as well as doubling as a learning and development centre for refereeing, administration, medical and sports science disciplines. It will also be the training home for the England senior team and 21 other squads supported by The FA.

Paul Mace, managing director of Macesport, says: “This is a project around which the whole footballing family is united and fervently wishes to see delivered.

“It is one of the single-most exciting and important footballing initiatives to be undertaken, and we are delighted to be working alongside The FA on such a landmark project.”

Scott Field, head of media relations at the FA, says: “We were extremely impressed with Macesport’s sporting credentials and their unrivalled knowledge of the regional media.

“It is of paramount importance to The FA that we communicate professionally and efficiently on a regular, ongoing basis with the regional media about our aims and ambitions for St George’s Park.”
