Polar has appointed David Wiley as its new UK Managing Director.

The 47-year-old, most recently at Helly Hansen, brings over 20 years of experience in the outdoor fitness and sporting goods industries including time at Cross Sportswear and Ellesse.

David will be based at Polar UK’s headquarters in Warwick and his role will be to lead and develop Polar’s presence in the UK and Ireland markets.

David said: “I’m delighted to have joined Polar and am looking forward to the new and exciting challenges in the wearable technology market. The range and quality of products that Polar produces is fantastic and my key goal is to position the brand as the number one choice for runners, triathletes and cyclists in the UK and Ireland.”

2017 saw a host of new product launches for Polar in the UK across key markets including the M430 GPS running watch, A370 fitness tracker, M460 GPS bike computer, H10 chest-based heart rate sensor and the innovative OH1 arm-based heart rate sensor.

David initially joined Helly Hansen as UK Sales Director in 2007, with responsibility for driving brand awareness and margins within the UK & Ireland sport wholesale channel. After additionally taking on responsibility for the UK & Ireland workwear channel, his role expanded to include the Benelux region and in the past few years, Australia and South Africa.

During this time, he successfully built and executed ambitious growth plans across all regions before making the move to Polar in 2018.
