Manchester United Women and Aston Villa Women First Clubs to be Confirmed

Tickets available to W7F and Brentford subscribers from 10:00 am on 13 April; general on-sale begins at 10:00 am on 14 April at worldsevens.com

World Sevens Football (W7F), the innovative 7v7 women’s football series, today announced the first‑ever W7F London Edition, a new league‑specific tournament featuring eight Barclays Women’s Super League clubs from across England. The event will take place from 28-30 May 2026 at Brentford FC’s Gtech Community Stadium in West London, forming part of a blockbuster weekend of women’s football ahead of the 2026 Adobe Women’s FA Cup Final on 31 May.

The W7F London Edition, following successful events in Estoril, Portugal, and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 2025, marks the W7F Series’ next phase of growth and evolution, expanding its competition umbrella with a new tournament model. Debuting in London, it will celebrate one of the world’s most competitive leagues, showcasing its stars in a fast-paced environment.

“In Estoril and Fort Lauderdale, we proved that a short, sharp, 7v7 format can deliver world‑class football, incredible fan engagement, and real value for clubs and players,” said Jen Mackesy, co‑founder of World Sevens Football. “World Sevens Football London Edition is the next step, showcasing one of the game’s leading leagues and creating something that is tailored to their clubs, their players, and their fans, while staying true to the energy and creativity that define W7F.”

Manchester United Women and Aston Villa Women have been named as participants.  Ameesh Manek, Director of Football Operations & Women’s Football, Manchester United Women, said: “Everyone is looking forward to returning to the World Sevens Football tournament. It is an excellent format that I know the team really enjoyed last year.

“Naturally, all of our focus right now is on finishing our WSL campaign strongly, but we hope that this tournament will provide an exciting finale to the season.”

Maggie Murphy, Managing Director, Aston Villa Women said: “We’re delighted to be part of the upcoming World Sevens Football competition. Innovative formats like this bring a different kind of energy to the game, and we’re excited to see how it unfolds. It will be an engaging and fun experience – not only for the fans, but also for our players and staff. It’s a great opportunity to be part of something a little different in the women’s game, and we’re looking forward to it.”

The W7F London Edition will bring English clubs together in a compact, three‑day window, with matches played over three days in a classic W7F format: 7v7 on a reduced‑size natural‑grass pitch, 30‑minute games, and rolling substitutions designed to keep the tempo high and manage player load. The event will combine a 1.5 million USD prize pool with a strong focus on atmosphere and experience, offering fans multiple matches and clubs in one venue over a single weekend, along with music, culture, and content‑driven storytelling that extends well beyond the final whistle.

Gtech Community Stadium, home of Brentford FC and a venue for the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup 2026 and UEFA Women’s Euro 2022, provides a modern, intimate setting that keeps fans close to the action and amplifies the intensity on the pitch. Across the three tournament days, supporters will enjoy a festival‑style atmosphere featuring back‑to‑back fixtures and entertainment, in a family‑friendly environment designed to welcome both dedicated followers and new fans.

“As we continue to develop our long-term strategic direction and expand our portfolio of tournaments within the World Sevens Football competition model, this edition reflects the next step in that evolution,” said Claire Bloomfield, Chief of Football Affairs and Governance, W7F. “This exciting composition of Barclays Women’s Super League clubs allows us to build on existing rivalries and narratives, highlight the depth of talent in a new format, and unlock fresh content and commercial opportunities for all stakeholders while giving fans another reason to come together around the game during one of the most important weekends in the English women’s football calendar.”

W7F and Brentford subscribers can get exclusive early access to tickets from 10:00 am on 13 April, with general on-sale beginning at 10:00 am on 14 April. Supporters can sign up for early access at worldsevens.com. Passes are available for individual days or as a three-day package to experience the tournament in its entirety.

Further details on participating clubs and broadcast partners will be announced in the coming weeks.
