Two more partnerships for Intersport

International sporting goods retailer Intersport has announced two new partnerships as it continues to create unique relationships with major brands.
In a move to support key mass participation events alongside existing brands and teams, Intersport has become the Official Sports Retail Partner of this year’s inaugural Aldi Manchester Half Marathon and of the 2017 Vitality Bath Half Marathon.
These names add to Intersport’s already impressive list of partnerships that includes Parkrun, Wigan Athletic FC, Tipperary GAA and Scarlets Rugby.
The two high profile UK races will work at a local level with Intersport John Moore Sports (Bath) and Intersport DW Sports (Manchester).
This will be the second year of partnership between Intersport John Moore Sports and the Vitality Bath Half Marathon, which takes place on March 12, 2017.
After a highly effective first year collaboration, the family-run sports retailer continues to enjoy increased footfall to the store and greater involvement with the local running community, including with the local Parkrun community.
Meanwhile, the race is on track to sell out its 15,000 places.
For the first year Manchester’s leading sports retail store Intersport DW Sports will be activating Intersport’s partnership with the inaugural Aldi Manchester Half Marathon.
The store already operates its own running club (#DWRC) and is offering expertise and advice to those competing in the city’s highly anticipated 13.1-mile race.
As a recognised global brand, Intersport’s name lends strong support to a race that is expecting a sell-out field for its autumn debut on October 16.
Together, these two new partnerships are testament both to Intersport’s ongoing commitment to the running community and to its continued pledge to unite with major brands whilst fully supporting its independent sports retailers.
Both the Vitality Bath Half Marathon and the Aldi Manchester Half Marathon can look at Intersport’s highly successful Parkrun partnership, launched in January 2016, as a great example of the company’s dedication to play an active part in the community and support grassroots sport.
Intersport is proud to be one of the main supporting partners helping to keep parkrun free and enabling over 1.5 million runners to complete their weekly 5K in a safe and fun environment.
Tom Foley, General Manager of Intersport UK & Ireland, said: “It is exciting for Intersport to be partnering for a second year with the Vitality Bath Half Marathon and with the very first Aldi Manchester Half Marathon.
“We are looking forward to being involved in what are set to be two days of huge sporting achievement and incredible atmosphere.
“On a local level, our individual retailers will be able to drive these partnerships for maximum benefit to the community.
“On a wider level, these partnerships reflect our commitment to provide ‘Sport to the People’ by supporting runners as they work towards their goals and achieve their dreams.
“Parkrun is a prime example of this.
“The partnerships also reflect our desire to build solid connections with major brands and events, to maximise opportunities and awareness for our individual retailers and sport in general.”
Intersport was set up in 1968 and today boasts more than 5,400 associated retailers in 46 countries, giving it the worldwide leading position in the sporting goods retail market.
The company is committed to offering customers the best products by the best brands, alongside expert service and advice.
