European DataHub Open For Business

4GLOBAL, the leading sports and leisure data company, is delighted to announce the expansion of its market-leading DataHub across Europe, unveiled today at the Active Leadership Forum hosted by the fitness industry group EuropeActive.

This unique platform, already used by 250 operators and 300 local authorities in the United Kingdom, sources data from across the entire sports and activity ecosystem, facilitating integration across government, cities, federations and private and public activity providers.

The European Datahub v1.0 has been developed and trialled in partnership with EuropeActive and both of its President’s Coucils. Following a successful concept phase involving a selection of the largest European fitness operators, including Basic Fit, SATS and The Gym Group, the service will be expanded across the whole sector with huge potential for developing insight and driving growth – and 4GLOBAL now welcomes other operators to join the platform.

Kerstin Obenauer, Chief Customer Officer, 4Global said: “We’re demonstrating how having the right data, and using it to draw insights into how to encourage people to be fitter and more active, has the power to really transform people’s lives.

“Everyone wants to see their communities become healthier, but often those best-placed to encourage those changes do not have access to the information which can help them make the right decisions.

“The European DataHub will support business growth in the leisure sector, but importantly, in a time of deep economic uncertainty, it also unlocks insights which allows investment to be properly targeted towards communities that need it the most. We’re so excited to be able to welcome more operators across Europe onto the platform in the coming weeks and months.”

The European DataHub is already collating and tracking the data of 6.4 million members from over 2,500 different fitness clubs across mainland Europe, including GoFit, David Lloyd Clubs and Puregym. This data pool will only grow further, as more clubs sign up to recieve the benefits provided through collaberation with 4Global.

The platform includes its highly-regarded Social Value Calculator, which is already widely used by municipal authorities and sport and leisure operators in the United Kingdom to help allocate and target resources towards communities and demographic groups which would benefit the most from increased physical activity.

The insights generated by the expansion of the European DataHub will form the foundations of sector-wide insight and research to be presented at next year’s European Health and Fitness forum.

Commenting on the launch, Andreas Paulsen, CEO of EuropeActive said: “We’re excited to have initiated the visionary European DataHub project with EuropeActive’s key partners at this transformative time in our sector’s history. We are eager to see the benefits and insights this innovative tool will bring to businesses and communities across the continent.
“With market uncertainty and volatility increasing, as a consequence of the pandemic, inflation, energy costs, disrupted supply chains and labour shortages, it is vital to have a comprehensive understanding of the landscape in front of our sector’s businesses. The European DataHub will essentially help our stakeholders take fact-based, informed decisions on their onwards development.

“EuropeActive and key partners have worked with 4global through the trial phase of the European DataHub project launch, and it is now time for more club operators and many other industry actors to join the platform in the coming months to help put Europe on the best path towards a healthier society.”
