Bodypower Launch 2016 Bodypower Games To Cater For Functional Training Boom

Largest fitness event in the UK to organise a competition to vie with the likes of the Athlete Games and Filthy 150

With the growth of ‘box’ gyms in the UK and a rise in the number of people regularly participating in group training classes involving constantly varied functional movements executed at high intensity, the UK’s largest fitness event, BodyPower has announced the launch of a brand new competition, the BodyPower Games.

Presented by the Athlete Centre, the large scale event, similar in style to the likes of the popular Athlete Games at London’s Excel and the Filthy 150 held in Ireland, the BodyPower Games is set to attract hundreds of hopefuls looking to put themselves on a pedestal for potential sponsorship amongst over 500 leading international brands and over 90,000 avid fitness enthusiasts.

BodyPower Managing Director, Steve Orton, commented: “With the size of the show, our hard work is making sure the event is continually diversifying and developing to cater for the changing needs of the fitness market. High intensity functional training is a rapidly expanding market and we believe the BodyPower Games will be an incredible platform for competitors and spectators to experience this trend on a platform like no other surrounded by so many thousands of visitors and companies.”

With cash prizes available for the winners, the BodyPower Games will feature 3 categories for individuals, masters (over 40’s) and teams with standard practise for competitions of this ilk in terms of online qualifiers.

The biggest draw for competitors will be the package, which not only includes the unprecedented exposure to brands, but also offers free merchandise, food and apparel included in the cost of entering.

Director of the Athlete Centre, James Shields, who will be running the event on the day commented: “Having looked around for a suitable venue to hold a large scale fitness event with little success, we jumped at the chance to be involved with an event the size and scale of BodyPower. The combination of what is already on offer at the expo with the BodyPower Games will only add to the excitement for the athletes competing.”

Run across the relentless three-day BodyPower weekend, the BodyPower Games costs just £5 for qualifying hopefuls and a fee of just £50 for those who make it to the competition itself, including the price of entry to BodyPower.
