Exciting Partners At The WFSGI Manufactureres Forum 2014


The WFSGI Manufacturers Forum 2014 will be embraced by leading executives and well-known global partners within the world of manufacturing. The agenda for the two-day conference in Leipzig on November 13 and 14, 2014 is now complete. Bayer MaterialScience AG Head of Textile Coatings EMEA Thomas Michaelis, Dassault Systèmes Global VP Lifestyle & Consumer at 3DXCITE Jan Rosenberg, DESMA Managing Director Christian Decker and Rieter Machine Works Ltd. Senior Marketing Manager Iris Biermann will speak at the Forum. Topping off the two-day conference, the World Federation of the sporting goods industry is pleased to welcome a wide range of high-level speakers reaching from Herbert Hainer, CEO adidas group to Steve Evans, Professor at University of Cambridge, Leanne Fremar, SVP/Executive Creative Director Women’s Under Armour and Dr. Oliver Blume, Executive Board Production and Logistics at Porsche.

Bayer MaterialScience brings magic to materials
Thomas Michaelis will present INSQIN®, a novel turnkey solution for a new generation of polyurethane (PU) coated fabrics, that set a new standard for material sustainability as well as creating new opportunities for product innovation. The launch marks a new chapter in the footwear and apparel sector, in which Bayer offers brand owners alongside the technology itself also a suite of services to optimize innovation and secure transparency and quality in the supply chain.
“With pure waterborne PU technology, rich application expertise and a novel approach to market, Bayer MaterialScience inspires brand owners to explore new possibilities in the design and creation of “magical” PU coated fabrics with their INSQIN® service portfolio”, says Thomas Michaelis.

Dassault Systèmes
Global VP Lifestyle & Consumer at 3DXCITE (Dassault Systèmes), Jan Rosenberg, will present on how life-like 3D assets can validate consumer experience and get a head start on sales without waiting for samples. “Going 3D Digital drives efficiency and reduces lead-time along the value chain. From the earliest stages of product design 3D allows earlier and better informed decision-making, not only accelerating product design but aligning its development with consumer demand”, comments Jan Rosenberg. 3D also enables massive reductions in costs and time on physical samples, increasing agility.

DESMA offers Design – Individualization – Production – in one day or less
Christian Decker, Managing Director at Klöckner DESMA will give an overview of realistic technologies for the fast way from DESIGN over the ADAPTION of the product with consumer personal characteristic to real PRODUCTION within a timeline of less than one day.
“The shoe DESMA Quadwrap Trainer, which is specially designed for manufacturing, combined with the adaption of the physical properties orientated on customer feet is showing current technology which can be switched immediately into reality of “urban production” in the neighborhood even in highest labor cost environments, downtown Shanghai, Paris or New York City with very low return of invest, reduction of carbon footprint and elimination of large warehouses and combined risk”, states Christan Decker.

Com4® yarn meets Design
Textiles are used in many ways and have to fulfil different tasks. The properties to fulfil the requirements can be influenced at different process stages along the textile chain. One important foundation stone is laid down in the spinning mill.
“Today’s information flow does not ensure that the right spinning technology is used. The result is that the full potential of the yarns is not exploited”, explains Iris Biermann from Com4® yarn by Rieter Machine Works Ltd. The Com4® campaign supports the communication between the partners of the value chain and trains customers, traders and designers in regard to the yarn properties and their effect in downstream processing and the influence on the finished article of clothing.
